This Roosebeck Alto Rebec is an excellent 3 string instrument based on instruments from the Early Renaissance. The body is carved from Lacewood, Sheesham Fingerboard, and Spruce Soundboard. It produces a thin, nasal, penetrating tone. It is 23" long with a scale length of 12.5." The optimal tuning for this Alto Rebec is: G below middle C, D above middle C, A above middle C.
It measures 23 inches long by 5 1/2 inches wide by 4 1/2 inches deep (including the bridge). Bow is 27 1/2" long. Padded Nylon Gig Bag, Rosin, and Extra Gut String Set Included. Free Shipping.
Shipping Note: Rebecs are de-tuned and the bridge is removed prior to shipment to reduce the chance of damage to the instrument. Before you can play instrument, you will have to set the bridge in place and then tune it, you will also have to prepare the bow. The bridge is free floating and will be held in place by the tension of the strings. To find the correct placement of the bridge: Put the three strings into the notches of the bridge and stand the bridge on the face of the soundboard between the two sound holes. Then measure from the bottom of the nut, to the front of the bridge; the measurement should be 13-inches. The bridge should be perpendicular to the strings, so the measurement should be 13-inches under each string. Be careful that the bridge does not move while you are tuning.
