In the late Middle Ages medieval fiddle also known as vielle or fidula was the most respected and most common instrument along with the harp.
The body of this Roosebeck Medieval Fiddle crafted of maple, the top is made of spruce, the tailpiece and the fretboard are made of walnut wood. The neck is also maple. The tuning pegs and endpin are satinwood. It has 4 strings the 1st 3 are gut and the 4th is nylon silver wound.. It has two C shaped sound holes on the soundboard with a removable bridge. The Medieval fiddle has no chin rest and no shoulder rest. The angle of the neck is more parallel with the soundboard. Used to play 2 strings at the same time: one as a drone.
